Baby Baby

So I've been looking at baby furniture, picking out a suitable crib, the matching changing table, etc. And then it occured to me that people are going to think I'm really weird for buying baby furniture when I'm not even pregnant (I don't think!). So I started polling my family and friends to see if they thought it was weird. And it turns out........everyone thinks it's weird or that I'll jinx myself! But I'm a planner people! I like to plan ahead! So what if it's a year in advance! But by buying all the furniture a little at a time, by the time we get pregnant, I won't have to worry about not having the money to buy all the necessary furniture! That makes much more sense to me. But then again, I'm weird. So instead, we (and by we, I mean Brad) decided that we would just save up the money to buy the furniture and actually buy it when we got pregnant. Boo. So I am thinking of this crib:

Cute feet, right??

And this changing table:

And this:

And I have decided that if we have a girl, the bedding will be pink and cream toile like this:
Not that exact bedding, but something similar...however while I was googling the above picture, I ran across some other really cute bedding, so the whole toile thing is not set in stone. Anyway, I also bought Brad a 'first time daddy' book. He likes it and I love hearing all his questions. Brad hasn't ever really been around babies enough to know much about them or about pregancies in general. I, on the other hand, have VERY CLOSELY seen three babies from start to finish! And I almost hit the floor watching the first one come into the world! Literally! So, plan on hearing a lot more baby talk from me. We have decided to start trying around April-May. I'm excited!!!

I am the Bunco CHAMPION!

So we had Bunco last night and let me start this post by saying that I won the top prize for MOST BUNCOS! And I also won Most Wins, but the group wouldn't let me get both prizes! (They were jealous...HA!) Because it's close to Halloween, we all decided to dress up!

I went as a prisoner and April went as the police officer!

April and I

We aren't very good actresses...

And guess who won the prize for best costume?? MOM! As Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.

Me, Bella, Sophie and Mom

April and I have Halloween Bunco again tonight with our other group. I'm sure I'll win the biggest prize there, too...Ha. OH, and April and I just found out that we will be sitting in the Skybox at the Homecoming game this Saturday!!!!!! I'll have good pics from that!

Sleeptalking

I have always been a sleeptalker. You know, where you talk in your sleep and then wake up the next day and have no remembrance of the conversation? Not the best talent to have, yet it hasn't ever gotten me into a bad situation.....until Friday night. We have some new friends from church that we hang out with as much as we can. Well Friday night, Brad and I being the night owls that we are, went to bed around 9:00pm. I woke up the next morning and thought I might have talked on my cell phone the night before, so I looked at the received calls on my phone. I accepted a call from a really weird number with a strange area code. I figured that it was just a wrong number and disregarded it. So later on Saturday afternoon, Brian (our friend from church), calls Brad to see if we want to watch the football game with them.....and then it hit me. Jenn (Brian's wife) called me the night before and the strange number was her's because they just moved here from Tennessee! And the only thing I can remember from the conversation was putting the phone down and asking Brad who is the heck was this "Jenn" person calling me. So then I start thinking....what did I say to our new friend?? Did I yell at her for calling me so late? Was I rude? Was I dreaming of having John Parker Wilson's baby and telling this to her? So later the next day, we went to Brian and Jenn's house so that I could explain myself and possibly apologize for going into detail about my love affair with John Parker. Jenn said that conversation went as follows:
Jenn: Hey Allison. This is Jenn. Brian and I were wondering if you and Brad would like to come over and watch the game tomorrow.
Me: Who is this?
Jenn: It's Jenn from church.
Long silence.
Jenn: Are you asleep?
Me: Of course not! Hold on......(shuffling around)....Brad! Who is Jenn?.....Brad! Wake up!.......Who the crap is Jenn?.......Umm...Jenn? Brad's asleep. I don't know. He's asleep.
Jenn: Do you want to just call me back tomorrow?
Me: Whatever, I don't know. CLICK!

So as you can see, I had to apologize and explain my 'condition' to Jenn, who was very understanding. I explained to Brad later that Jenn must have called me late because I was in such a deep sleep. I looked at my phone and she had called at 9:30pm. So the moral of my story is this: Don't call me past 8:00pm if you expect to speak with the real me. Otherwise, you might get the pleasure of speaking with my evil twin!

Sucky Economy=Sucky Mood

When will the economy ever pick back up? I'm starting to wonder if it ever will. Everyone is either too afraid to spend money right now or they don't even have money to spend. So now I am having several people just move out of their rental houses, leaving me with umpteen vacancies. Usually having a few vacancies is ok. It's no big deal to spend the money redoing them when they are rented within a week of becoming empty. Now, however, we spend all the money to redo a house and it sits there, empty for three months. And frankly, it's got me down in the dumps and makes me feel like I'm not doing my job adequately-which makes me feel like crap. I am coming to realize, though, that if I just hand all of this crap over to God, he will take care of it and I will feel a whole lot better. It's the same situation going on in our church right now. For those that don't know us personally, we have been struggling at church now for the past year and a half and with that, staff members resigned or were asked to leave. Last month, our preacher of 16 years resigned. Slowly but surely, all of our pastoral staff and worship leaders have left-and that came to a close Wednesday night when our Student Pastor resigned. A very wise man said to me Wednesday that "God was trying to show us that if we just handed our problems to Him, He would take care of them. But instead, we try to put blame on other people and all sorts of other things, avoiding the problems all together. God was showing us that our church needed to be led by Him, not our staff members. When we apparently missed that memo, God decided to take EVERYONE away to show that He was in control and that if we would just hand all of it over to Him, He would take care of it." So that's what I'm going to try my best to do from now on.

My nephew

You must read THIS. Too funny.

Nothing new

So nothing too exciting going on around here. Brad is actively studying at the University of Subway (no, I'm not kidding, that's really what it's called!) to be able to obtain his franchise license. He also received an inch and a half think book he has to read that explains what he has to do to be able to open up his Subway. That consumes most of his free time. When he isn't working on Subway stuff, he manages to do "manly" things outside like watering the flowers he and Doug planted a few weeks ago. He also bought some new toys last night at Lowe's that he can't wait to try out, a Shop-Vac and a Dremel. Whoo Hoo. As for me, other than singing my booty off at church for the past week, I have officially gone into 'baby mode'. Which reminds me, did you know that it takes 3 months to form a sperm? Interesting stuff. You learn a lot when you read! And mark my word, today is October 22, 2008-I will have twins. I said it here, remember that. I have ALWAYS almost known that I would have twins. I've always felt it. And I have several sets of twins on my side of the family so it is entirely possible. So anyway, that's about all that's going on with us. We are watching the game at Mom and Doug's this weekend since we didn't get TICKETS. So I'm sure I'll have a funny story or two to report from that. And if you are bored and have some time to spare, take a look at this. Read it from the beginning. It's good stuff!

The Secret Life of Bees

Loved it! I hadn't heard anything about this movie other than it had Dakota Fanning in it, whom I love. I saw the movie Sunday with Brad and my mother-in-law. Brad hated the movie, mainly because it's a chick flick. My mother-in-law liked it, though. I also found out that not only is Dakota Fanning in the movie, but so are Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson and Alicia Keys. And they were all great as well. It's a tear-jerker, so bring the tissue!

Did you watch??

Well you know what I'm talking about, so did you?? The Making the Band season finale?!?!?!? Holy crap! Ok, so Aubrey and D. Woods are officially OUT of the band! What are they going to do now? The host, Sway, hinted at a new season so surely they will reunite. Don't you think?

And on another celebrity note, I just saw on Perezhilton.com that Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag have set aside their differences and are friends again?!!??! There must be something in the air! People are acting crazy! It must have been the full moon last night!

And aren't those boots the most hideous thing you have ever seen? I'm just saying....

Griffin's 6th Birthday Party

Griffin's party was at the Fun Factory this year. Brad and I always look forward to one of the nephew/neice birthday parties because they always include cake from Celebrations! YUM! Here are some pictures from yesterday:

Reece hated all the big blow-up things. I was trying to get her to smile!

Remember my post a month or so ago when Brad and I went to our nephew, Greyson's, birthday party at the Fun Factory and I received this injury?

Well guess what Brad got at Griffin's party.....

Same elbow, too!

Nights in Rodanthe

Brad, Mom, Doug and I went to see this movie tonight. I highly recommend it for a girl's night out. I thought it was a great movie with unexpected twists. Brad, however, almost hated the movie and was completely bored throughout. And I have now had my quarterly dose of popcorn. Thanks, Brad.
Also, our nephew Griffin had his 6th birthday party this afternoon at the Fun Factory. We all had a great time! I will post pictures as soon as I can!

This is for Emma

So I'm driving through a neighborhood, checking on some of our workers, when something catches my eye. I see this house. At first, I just see a funky design in the brick work. Then, as I look closer, I realize that the funky design was actually someone's name. Emma, to be exact. Someone actually thought it would be a good idea to write someone's name in brick on the front of a house. And I hope they plan on living there the rest of their lives. Who would want to buy a house with someone else's name written on it??

Big Mama's 80th Birthday

Today is my grandmother's 80th birthday! In honor of her birthday, all of us had dinner last night at Tokyo. It was delicious! I called Big Mama at 7:00am this morning and her phone was busy....I wasn't the first one to call! I came in THIRD this year. That's pitiful. For being 80 years old, Big Mama is very well! She still volunteers at the hospital weekly, eats lunch with Brad and I every Sunday after church, quilts and still manages to make it to WalMart almost every day! She is my favorite person on this earth! Anyway, here are some pictures from last night:

My favorite neice!

Reece already loves credit cards!

Big Mama was so embarrassed when they sang Happy Birthday to her!

Group picture

And while today is a happy day, it's also a sad one. Today would have been Carolyn Chandler's 22nd birthday. She worked with April and I at the office and was killed last year by a drunk driver. Actually, Monday the 13th will be the one year anniversary of the day she was killed. April and I are down in the dumps about that, so Monday will be worse of a day for us. Just goes to show you never know when you're gonna go!

On a family update, Brad has probably found a job! It isn't what we were initially thinking, but it just so happens that it's exactly what Brad wanted! He and Dad are looking into going into a partnership and opening up a Subway! It's still very much in the beginning-research stages, but we consider it an answered prayer!

And on another side note, did anyone watch Making the Band last night?!?! Aubrey out of the group? What?!??!? I can't wait for the season finale next week!

Television

Don't you just hate it when you secretly LOVE a show, but you can't talk about it with anyone because you are ashamed that you even watch it? I had lunch with a friend yesterday and we had this discussion. And as we were talking, we both realized that we BOTH watched a particular show, that we are both ashamed to watch. Are you ready for it???
There, I said it! I freaking love that show! And so does Brad! Isn't that horrible!?!?!? So along with The Secret Life, my other must-watch shows include:
Making the Band
The Island
Survivor
Grey's Anatomy
Desperate Housewives
The Hills
Dallas Cowboy's Cheerleaders: Making the Team

And I'm not ashamed to watch all of those, just the one's that come on MTV! There. I feel a lot better now. Oh, and though it doesn't come on anymore, I also used to watch A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila. Now doesn't that make you feel better about yourself? Have a marvelous day!

Where are my widgets?!?!?

So I'm revamping my site. Sorry if things look a little crazy for a while!

Halloween Costumes

I have been looking for a Halloween costume for Bella for the past few weeks. Mom found this old costume:

But we decided that instead of a princess, Bella would be a mermaid this year!

She looks so cute in it! As for me, I have two Halloween parties to attend and I think I've decided to be a pirate. I'm sure you'll love seeing THOSE pictures!

Julie's Shower

So last Sunday I threw my friend Julie a bridal shower. We had a crappy turn out, but a really fun time with the people that showed up! I also seriously cleaned my house...and even took pictures!

The master bathroom

The living room

Our bedroom

The kitchen

Food for the shower

My hard work!

Delicious cheesecake bites I made

My step-dad and Brad also completely re-did the flowerbed on Saturday. It's gorgeous!

As soon as Julie gets me the pictures, I will post more!

On a side note, while I was out on the job this morning, I saw this freakin huge spider!
