Where have I been?

So I know I have been slacking on my blogging duties here lately, but I promise I'll get back on track. Just to give you a few updates:

-Brad is STILL looking for a job. No one wants to hire anyone right now because the economy is so bad. And they really don't want to hire someone without any experience.

-I am completely exhausted today, for the record.

-I have baby fever. I want a baby. Now. So encourage my sweet husband to get a JOB so we can start working on that!

-Our preacher resigned Sunday night. And we have several staff positions open right now so we don't really have anyone qualified to be our new preacher right now. So the search is on...

-My grandmother's 80th birthday is next week!

That's pretty much all I have time to write today. Like I said, I promise to get back on track! Hope yall have a great week!

Jigaboo

Ok. Ok. Ok. okokok. -That's for you, April.

Yesterday, I got a call from our answering service saying that one of our vacant rental houses had been broken into. I was completely shocked because this particular house is in a very good neighborhood and we have never had any problems over there. Anyway, so Brad and I rush over there to meet the police. When we get to the house, the front door deadbolt has been pryed off and a paint roller had been disassembled (the house is in the process of being painted, and the painters had just left to go to another job.) Apparently, a little kid was trying to be funny in front of his friends and broke into the house. I told the police officer that I most certainly wanted to press charges if they caught the person. After we made a police report, Brad and I left while the officer drove around and asked questions to all the little kids that were outside at the time. WELL, I just received a phone call from a lady named "Cam" who said that she was the mother of the child that broke into our house and she just wanted to ask me "if I could find it in my heart to not press charges against her poor 11 year old son. She is just a single mother trying to make it with six kids. He was just messing around and he didn't really DO anything." Ok, #1 the kid pryed the deadbolt off with a screwdriver. Have you ever tried that? It takes some skill, so obviously this isn't the first time the kid has done this. #2, why yes, he most certainly did DO something. He caused me to stop doing laundry and my husband to stop cutting the grass at 6:oopm last night and drive from Moundville to Tuscaloosa JUST to screw a deadbolt back on a door. #3 the kid needs to be taught a lesson. Send him to juvi for a little while and see if he thinks it's funny to break into another person's home. Burglary, by the way, is a felony. #4 the MOTHER needs to be taught a lesson. If she would have kept her legs closed, she wouldn't be stuck with six kids to take care of. Maybe after her little jigaboo son actually gets repremanded for his actions, he will straighten up and won't end up like all the other jigaboos walking around selling drugs, sex and alcohol in Alberta and West End every morning as I drive through checking rental property. SO in conclusion, I WILL be pressing charges. And in 10 years when the kid has taken the right path in life, you can come find me, and thank me.

Things I love and love to hate about my husband

Because there is relatively nothing of interest going on in our lives right now, I decided to steal this idea from another blog I read. So here goes:

Things I love to hate:

1. He thinks that picking Bella up from my mother's everyday is my responsibility and he shouldn't have to do it.

2. He occasionally leaves the toilet seat up and ready for me to fall into!

3. He waits until I start flat-ironing my hair in the mornings before he gets up to get a shower. The moisture in the air from him taking a shower makes my hair (that I've worked on for 30 minutes) frizz up.

4. He procrastinates. He would much rather sit in the living room and play Guitar Hero than go outside and cut the knee-high grass.

5. He taps. Tap, tap, tap, all the freakin time. And when I tell him to stop tapping, he always has to do it ONE MORE TIME.

6.. Even though I HATE to admit it, Bella worships the ground Brad walks on. If he would let her, she would lick his face for 30 minutes nonstop.

Things I love:

1. 99% of the time, if I ask for the remote, he hands it over.

2. He always takes out the trash!

3. He always puts my needs/wants before his own.

4. He kindly does his #2's in the spare bathroom :o)

5. He knows that I would much rather lay in bed than tailgate all day THEN got to the football game, so he provides me with all the necessary items....unlimited supply of Mountain Dew, an $8 Mt. Dew and $5 preztel at halftime, etc.

6. He hardly ever says anything when I want to eat Benkei 3 times a week!

And there you have it. This Sunday I am hosting a bridal shower for a friend of mine, so I'm sure I'll have pictures from that next Monday. Hope yall have a great week!

Bella's first football game!

We have been wanting to take Bella tailgating for a while now so last week I went out and bought her a jersey and a cute bow for the game. She was so excited!

We got out to the Quad on Saturday, put a leash on Bella and started walking toward our tailgating spot. I walked about 5 steps and realized that Bella was NOT walking. She was still sitting in the same spot I put her in. I called her and tried gently pulling on the leash, but she wouldn't budge!! She refused to walk on the leash! I had to carry that 13 lb. little baby!

She had a lot of fun, but she will not be making any more trips to the Quad anytime soon. She insisted that I hold her the ENTIRE time. It was way too hot for that! So maybe she will get to come back out when the weather turns cooler.

This week, I made my chicken dip again and this red velvet football cake!

Yum!

The trip to the Lodge

My Dad is building a huge hunting lodge in Greene County and April and I have been dying to see what it looks like. So today, we took a field trip! The lodge is 10,000 square feet and has 8 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a commercial kitchen, a loft AND a playroom. HUGE! The highest point on the ceiling reaches 35 feet!

The fireplace (the hole is 5 feet long!)

The massive living room. That's April standing at the bottom by the door.

A look down the hallway of the eight bedrooms

April and I

Pretty!

Ok, so after Dad gave April and I the grand tour, he set us loose to explore because he had "work to do." Are we 7 or what? So we started walking around and got really bored. And this is what happened:

Never leave us alone with a camera!

Alabama vs. Tulane

Well we won, of course. But we played horribly! I mean HORRIBLY. Our offensive line SUCKS. Big time. We better step up our game by next Saturday if we want to beat Western Kentucky.

Here is a picture of the chicken dip football I made. It got great reviews! I even had some requests to make it again for this Saturday!

Bella helped me make the chicken dip.

Brad and I tailgating before the game

The opening kick off

Sunday, we went to Greyson's (Brad's nephew) 6th birthday party at the Fun Factory. At the Fun Factory, they have this huge blow-up slide. There were several requests for Brad and I to go down the slide, so in order to not disappoint everyone, we went. Here is the result:

Yeah, it hurts. And I was so out of breath afterwards, I probably could have passed out. I'm getting old.

Football, cooking, Bella and Brad

Have I mentioned how excited I am about football season? VERY excited. I rarely ever cook a meal, well besides warming up some bagel bites or corndogs in the oven. But when football season rolls around, I try to cook a couple of things to take out to the Quad. For tomorrow's game, I'm making a DELICIOUS chicken dip (recipe courtesy of April) and a cherry pie! How wifey of me! Hopefully I won't burn the house down! Brad and I bought some ice trays in the shape of the Alabama "A" with the intention of making little Jello A's for the Quad, but after our test batch, the A's wouldn't come out without falling apart. Disappointing.

In other news, Bella had to go to the beauty shop this morning. Whenever she goes to the beauty shop, the lady puts bows in her hair. Well, when Bella and Sophie play, they bite each other's ears and such to where Bella's bows always get matted up in her ears. She has some really bad matts right now on her ears and we just received word from the beauty shop that they will have to cut ALL the hair off her ears. Poor baby! And the beauty shop lady had the nerve to talk to us like Bella was being mistreated! The NERVE! Let me tell you, that child is realllly mistreated sleeping in between Brad and I in a king size bed with the covers pulled up to her face. REALLY mistreated being taken to MiMi's house EVERYDAY so she won't be left alone while Brad and I are at work. Poor Bella has SUCH a hard life, let me tell you.

Brad's interview went well yesterday. He interviewed with a temp. agency that we were hoping already had a job lined up. Well it turns out that they just needed an accountant in their resume inventory. But they did tell Brad that since he was a good candidate, they would start looking for employers for him.

Hope to see yall on the Quad bright and early in the morning! I'll have pictures from the weekend on Monday!

Another interview

Brad has another interview tomorrow morning. Cross your fingers....and toes....and anything else you can cross! We must feed our poor, starving child....

Labor Day Weekend

First of all, let me start out by saying ROLLLLL FREAKIN TIDE BABY!!!!!!!!!!! We kicked some Clemson booty Saturday!!!!!

Friday:

As soon as I got off work Friday afternoon, I had to rush home to finish packing and help Brad cook a dessert that we were taking to our Bible Study class party. We got to the party around 6:00pm and had a great time fellowshipping (is that a word?) with our friends and eating. We left the party at 7:00pm to head over to Atlanta for the Alabama vs. Clemson game the next day. We got to Atlanta pretty late, checked in at the hotel and went to bed.

Saturday:

Brad's birthday!! He's 23 now! We got up and the first present I gave Brad was total control of the tv remote, a very precious gift. So we watched Game Day on EPSN. And we haaaad to watch the entire show to see which team the guy picked. No interest to me whatsoever, but hey, it wasn't my birthday!
So the show ended at noon and Brad and I headed over to his parents hotel, which was within walking distance of the Georgia Dome (right in the middle of downtown Atlanta.) We start driving closer and closer when we realize that something strange is going on. Everyone walking down the street is dressed up in super hero costumes! WHAT? We park the car and go into his parent's hotel and THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!!
Apparently, the hotel was hosting some sort of convention where people dressed up as comic book characters! I'm not kidding. I got some interesting pictures.... Anyway, so we eat lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, then head to the game. We sat FOUR rows from the TOP! I could not even see the numbers on the jerseys! We kicked butt, though! That's all that matters! After the game, we headed back to our hotel and layed down around 1:30am.

Sunday:

We wake up, eat breakfast, plan on checking out of the hotel and shop a little at Underground Atlanta, then head home....or so Brad thought! For his birthday, I planned a surprise! After we checked out of the hotel, we got in the car and I handed Brad a blindfold. He was so confused! From there, we went to White Water! I'm so sneaky! We had a GREAT day there. We left White Water at about 4:00pm and headed to our other hotel (that Brad didn't know about!) We took showers and got dressed and then we went and ate at a FABulous mexican restaurant called On the Border. Yummy fajitas! After dinner, we went to the movies and saw Wanted. I highly recommend it! Then of course came bedtime!

Monday:

We decided that with Hurricane Gustav headed our way, we probably needed to head home early to avoid driving in the wind and rain, so we left out at about 9:30am. We had lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse (omg, so yummy) and finallllly got back to Tuscaloosa around 1:30pm.

Great, long weekend, other than the fact that I LOST my ROLEX!!!!!
