30 weeks

30 weeks

How far along? 30 weeks, 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: Up 24 lbs. I have been freaking out since yesterday because I thought I gained four pounds this week, but luckily I just miscalculated and have only gained ONE pound this week! Haha

Maternity clothes: Yes please!

Stretch marks: Same ones

Sleep: Good for the most part. I’ve always been a stomach sleeper and so far with this pregnancy, I’ve been able to sleep half way on my stomach, propped up on a body pillow. But now, he’s getting so big that sleeping on my belly at all is uncomfortable. I HATE sleeping on my side! He also has a new trick of kicking the bed when I’m laying down, so that’s been keeping me up as well. :)

Best moment this week: Brad and I had a date night Friday night!

Movement: Absolutely! I’ve been trying to get him dancing around on video, but you can’t ever see it as good as you can in real life!

Food cravings/aversions: Fruit, sour candy. I am an avid Mt Dew drinker, but this week I just haven’t wanted it that much.

Gender: Boy!

Labor signs: I’m still having a ton of Braxton-Hicks. They are a bit concerning to me, especially when I have 5 in 30 minutes or one contraction that lasts ten minutes, but every time I call my doctor’s office they tell me not to worry until they stay in a regular pattern. Luckily I have a doctor’s appointment Wednesday, so I can talk to my doctor about it. My blood pressure was also slightly elevated this morning at 129/80. Mine is usually 110/50ish. I’ve also been really sore from contracting so much.

Belly button in or out: Out and so strange!

What I miss: My pre-pregnancy body!

What I am looking forward to: My doctor’s appointment this week!

Weekly wisdom: Sour Patch watermelons are really yummy! :)

Milestone: Only 10 more weeks to go! I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!

How far along? 29 weeks, 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: Up 23 lbs.

Maternity clothes: All the time

Stretch marks: Same ones

Sleep: I slept really good this week for the most part. I sleep SO good for the first hour or two. And I’m not waking up as often to go pee so that’s been awesome!

Best moment this week: Getting a day FULL of rest on Saturday! It was much needed.

Movement: All the time! He has the hiccups at least once a day right now. I’ve also felt him have the ‘heeby jeebies”

Food cravings/aversions: Nectarines! I can’t get enough. I’ve been craving fresh foods this week like salads, cucumbers, etc. Probably from all the junk I’ve been eating lately!

Gender: Boy!

Labor signs: Lord yes. I have been having a TON of Braxton Hicks. They started Wednesday afternoon. By Friday afternoon, I had 6 in an hour and I was so sore from having them so often. I called my doctor’s office to find out how many BH were too many and they said to go to the hospital if they got into a pattern or became too painful. We had dinner plans that night that I really didn’t want to cancel, so I left work early to go home and lay down for about an hour. After that I didn’t have any more. Then Saturday I made sure to stay in bed ALL DAY LONG. I haven’t had any contractions since then, thankfully. I started to get a little freaked out on Friday, though!

Belly button in or out: Out!

What I miss: Being able to get a lot of things done.

What I am looking forward to: Seeing this sweet baby! Now that it’s getting so close, I’m getting really excited to meet my sweet boy!

Weekly wisdom: SLOW DOWN

Milestone: Last week in the 20s! It won’t be long now!

Noah’s trip to the dentist

Noah’s pediatrician said that I should take him for his first dental check up this summer. I put it off until he got back in school and in a routine. We went yesterday!

I made sure to really talk it up and explain to him what all they were going to do and he was a little apprehensive, but seemed to be ok with going.

Before the hygienist started, I told him that I wanted to take his picture. He said, “Well let me do my mad face!”

Haha! I asked him to smile and this was all I got…

dentist 2

He wasn’t sure about the whole process at this point! :)

The hygienist looked in his mouth, brushed and flossed his teeth, and put fluoride on his little teeth. He did so good! They asked him if he had ever seen floss before and he said, “Yeah! My Mommy used that once!” Hahaha. Oops.

He held onto the chair for dear life! I was so surprised that he wasn’t shy and he just let them do whatever they wanted!

Then the dentist came in!

dentist 4

Noah loved him! He gave him a hug and a high five after his appointment!

He got a bag FULL of goodies, including a new dinosaur toothbrush. Noah said his favorite part of going to the dentist was riding the dental chair up and down. :)

Afterwards, Noah requested a trip to Walgreens to pick out a toy so I happy obliged! He’s such a big boy!

Sleep: I slept ok this week. I have AWESOME sleep from about 8:30pm-9:30pm every night. After that, it’s hard to get deep sleep.

Best moment this week: We had a house FULL of people over Saturday to watch the game. I ate a ton and we had a great time!

Movement: He’s like the energizer bunny! And I can still always count on him to do some aerobics from 7:30-8pm each night.

Food cravings/aversions: I’m still craving Crystal Light, strawberry orange banana to be exact. And nectarines. I still can’t stand the smell of bbq.

Gender: Boy!

Labor signs: Nope

Belly button in or out: Ok, ok. It’s out.

What I miss: Being able to breathe.

What I am looking forward to: Doctor’s appt this week!

Weekly wisdom: I’m fresh out this week!

Milestone: Third trimester!!!! Yay!

And a funny….

This morning, Noah was telling me bye before he and Brad left the house. He gave me a kiss, then kissed Cason. He stared at my belly for a few seconds and then said, “Mommy, your belly is REALLLLY big! Cason is just gonna pop outta there!” Haha! I’m glad he thinks he has this all figured out. I’m not prepared for questions yet! :)

A Noah update!

It’s been a long time since I gave an update on my little man!

photo 4

Have I mentioned that he is the LIGHT OF MY LIFE?!?!?! Seriously. I couldn’t possibly love anything more than I love him.

School:

We (reluctantly) changed preschools at the start of this school year. He has always gone to our church’s preschool and we loved it there. The main issue we had was that they operated off the county school system schedule and were closed during summer and all the other school holidays. It was very inconvenient for us since we both work full time. I had friends and family that could keep Noah for me when school was closed, but I hated always feeling like I was burdening someone else with my problems. So we made the decision to switch schools. He is now attending the school that his three older cousins all attended and honestly, I couldn’t be happier. He is learning to eat new foods because the school serves a hot lunch to the kids (his previous school didn’t). He is learning so much. Just the other night, he was in the bathtub and recited the Pledge of Allegiance perfectly, I didn’t even know they were working on that! I feel like his new school is really investing in him and getting him ready for Kindergarten in ways that his other school didn’t. All of his teachers have really been working hard with us to get Noah completely potty trained as well! (More on that below!)

Potty training:

Two of the scariest words in the dictionary. Ha! I finally feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. This has been the longest, most tedious process in my parenting journey so far! So back in February (his 3rd birthday), we ditched the diapers/pull-ups and went to underwear and only wearing pull-ups at night/nap. The problem we ran in to was that his previous school’s policy was once they had two accidents, they were put in a pull-up for the rest of the day. This obviously caused major issues in my potty training plan. So for the rest of the school year, that’s what we did. Honestly, I think that’s the main reason that it took us so long to get him potty trained. We didn’t have the support we needed from the people that cared for him for the majority of the day. That’s another reason we switched preschools. Through the summer, Noah stayed with a friend of mine sometimes and my mother-in-law sometimes. He started using the potty more and was peeing in the potty most of the time, but would NOT poop in the potty at all. Once he started preschool (at the new school), I had a few talks with his teacher about his potty history and the issues we were currently having. She told me that if he had 10 accidents a day, they would just keep working with him and KEEP HIM IN UNDERWEAR no matter what. Hallelujah!

Noah loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates and had been eyeing a toy named Bucky from Target for the longest time. We always told him that once he pooped in the potty, we would buy Bucky for him. His teacher suggested that we go ahead and buy Bucky, but sit him out of Noah’s reach but in eyesight, to be more enticing. So we bought Bucky, sat him on the top of the fridge, and explained to Noah that he could play with him once he pooped in the potty. It wasn’t long after that that one night Noah said out of the blue that he needed to go poop! We sat him on the potty, let him watch a show on the iPad and BOOM! Haha! It was glorious. We all jumped and screamed and celebrated and then we all played with Bucky! Since then, he has pooped in the potty several more times and understands now when he needs to go! He still has accidents sometimes, but for the most part I’d say we are potty trained! :):):):)

Becoming a big brother:

I will be the first to tell you that Noah is a Momma’s baby. I made him that way and I have no shame! He is my heart and I spoil the dickens out of him and don’t discipline him as much as I should. :) So I knew it would be a BIG adjustment for him to have to share me. Luckily, pregnancies last 9 months so we will have plenty of time to warm up to the idea of a little brother. He wasn’t too thrilled with the idea at first, but these days he talks about Cason like he’s already here with us! I’m sure he will be less likely to be so happy about it once Cason actually gets here, but for now he’s starting to like the idea of baby brother! This past Sunday, his Sunday school teacher was helping him draw a picture of his family and Noah made the teacher draw Cason in my belly!

Sleep:

The kid loves to sleep. I don’t know where he gets that from…. Right now, we usually put him in his bed at 7:30pm (I know it’s super early compared to most kids his age, but it’s what works for us!) and let him watch tv for about an hour and a half. He never comes out of his room once we put him to bed. He sleeps with a lamp on, so a lot of times he will get up and play with some toys for a while and then get back in bed. He still sleeps with his brown blankey and I don’t see that going away for a long time. We have had no problems with his big boy bed. I can’t believe he hasn’t ever fallen out. But he has requested a few times to sleep on the floor, so we oblige! He still naps from about noon-3 or 4ish on the weekends and takes a 2 hour nap during the week at school. He also still sucks his thumb when he sleeps.

photo 1

Eating:

He is the world’s pickiest eater. And I was the exact same way when I was little so I can’t blame him! He loves chicken nuggets (some days), rice and beans, crackers, pretzels, “Yucky Charms”, and any kind of fruit or applesauce/yogurt. Other than that, you are lucky if you can get him to even try it. He tells me all the time that his teacher makes him try his lunch at school which THRILLS me because I know it’s not things he normally eats. I’m glad he at least likes fruit, though.

photo 3 (3)

What he’s in to:

He loves to watch tv, so we have several shows that he likes right now. Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Paw Patrol, Doc McStuffins, Chuggington, Handy Manny, Dora, I think that may be it. His favorite toy to play with would either be his remote control Lightning McQueen or his train tracks/trains. He’s also been really into puzzles lately. This could also be up in the potty training section, but another trick that helped us was once he had an accident, we would lock up every.single.toy. in the playroom. Once he successfully used the potty, he could pick out a toy to play with. If he had another accident, any toys he had out would go back in the playroom to be locked up. Worked like a charm!

He also reallllly loves cutting the grass with his Daddy and riding his powerwheel out back.

27 weeks

SONY DSC

How far along? 27 weeks, 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: Up 20 lbs. Hubba hubba.

Maternity clothes: Most definitely. I’ve already had to retire a few maternity shirts that are now too short.

Stretch marks: Same ones

Sleep: Horrible. If I’m not waking up to pee, I’m waking up hungry. And then there are times that I just can’t sleep. Momsomnia.

Best moment this week: I had a great doctor’s appt this past week. I’m now going every TWO WEEKS! Eeeek!

Movement: I can basically feel everything now. Once this week, I could feel his foot move from the top of my belly all the way to the bottom. He must be practicing his stretches!

Food cravings/aversions: Crystal Light. I’ve been so thirsty lately, which irritates me because that just means more trips to the bathroom.

Gender: Boy!

Labor signs: Nope

Belly button in or out: I’m not going to officially say it’s out yet, but usually by the end of the day it’s poking out a little.

What I miss: NOT PEEING 574 TIMES A DAY.

What I am looking forward to: Scheduling our 4D ultrasound soon

Weekly wisdom: It’s ok to say no.

Milestone: Well I’m on maternity leave from the praise team. I think I made it further when I was pregnant with Noah, but this time around I’m just in a lot more pain. I’m very sway-backed anyway, so add 20 pounds to my stomach and you can imagine how awesome that feels. I’m having a lot of lower back pain and restless legs, which I’m assuming is due to the fact that little one is sitting on some nerves. So I’m having to take a break from a few things to ensure the health of Mommy and Cason!

SONY DSC

How far along? 26 weeks, 3 days

Total weight gain/loss: Up 18 lbs. Yikes! I feel like he’s really grown in the past week!

Maternity clothes: Um yeah!

Stretch marks: Same ones

Sleep: Good for the most part. We had a crazy week…a concert, then a trip to the beach. I got my sleep schedule all off and didn’t go to bed until 10:30pm some nights! I’m living on the edge now. :)

Best moment this week: We had a great weekend in Gulf Shores! Noah had so much fun playing on the beach.

Movement: I’m pretty sure he is head down now. I can feel little feet kicking on the top of my stomach!

Food cravings/aversions: Any kind of Crystal Light. I also craved fried chicken this weekend, which is weird. The smell has been making me gag for most of my pregnancy.

Gender: Boy!

Labor signs: Nope

Belly button in or out: In when I’m sitting, out when I stand up!

What I miss: Cold turkey. I can’t wait to eat some Subway again!

What I am looking forward to: Doctor’s appt tomorrow!

Weekly wisdom: Long car rides are no fun when you are 26 weeks!

Milestone: Viability! Yay!
