My gymnast

Noah participates in gymnastics classes at his preschool. He loves rolling around and jumping and everything they get to do. Last week, his class had an end-of-the-year program for the parents to show off what the kids have been working on all semester.

An ice cream date

Before Cason was born, Noah was my little baby. I spoiled him rotten and gave in to more of his whims than I probably should have. But I didn’t care, he was my baby! So when the time drew near for Cason to join our family, I just knew the sibling jealousy was going to be bad. Baaaaaaaad. There was no way Noah was going to want to share me with someone else. So I mentally prepared myself for the worst. And what I got was the COMPLETE opposite of what I imagined.

Noah loved Cason from the moment he laid eyes on him. He never acted jealous AT ALL. He is always caring and loving toward Cason. He loves playing with him, tickling him, talking with him and just being near him. And he’s been that way since day one.

However….this past Sunday was Cason’s baby dedication so the entire day was about him. And that’s when it started.

Shortly after church was over, Noah burst into tears over something so small. At lunch, he burst into tears several times because he didn’t get to hand me his menu, or his silverware didn’t have a little green paper on it like everybody else’s, or this or that or this or that. He’s had a few of these little episodes since then. And he also wants me to hold him constantly.

I guess reality is finally setting in with him and he realizes that I’m now having to split my attention between him and his brother. It makes me so sad for him to feel this way. So in an effort to show him more attention, I picked Noah up early from school yesterday and took him on an ice cream date!

It took some convincing to get him to be ok with leaving Cason at school. We had to go give Cason bye hugs and kisses before we could leave! But he was SO excited about going for ice cream with just Mom! He had never been to Yogurt Mountain before. He kept saying, “This is an awesome ice cream factory!”

Cotton candy ice cream was his choice! He loved getting to pick out the different toppings.

We enjoyed our little date and I decided we definitely needed to have more dates in our future! Hopefully this will help him transition better into his new role as big brother! I couldn’t love that little boy any more if I tried!

Our Mother’s Day weekend

I got to celebrate Mother’s Day all weekend long and I can honestly say it was the best one yet! Friday morning, I had breakfast with Noah at his school.

photo 1

He gave me the sweetest presents that he made.

photo 3

The flower pot says “I love my Mommy because she takes me to the old Toys R Us.” When he can’t remember that it’s called Target, he calls it the old Toys R Us for some reason. Smile

Saturday, I got to lounge around and love on my babies all day long. Then Sunday morning, I got even more presents! Noah made this at church.

And Cason made this.

And as if I wasn’t already having the best Mother’s Day, Sunday was also Cason’s baby dedication at church! We had most of our family there to share in our special day. We are so blessed!

Here is my 85 year old Big Mama with the boys! I love her to pieces!

Our little family! I have given up on ever getting a picture where EVERYONE is looking at the camera and smiling!

Did I tell you I love this lady???

I’m so glad everyone came to support us on Cason’s big day!

My friend Donna made Cason’s little outfit and smocked it by HAND! Noah actually wore it to his baby dedication as well! So sweet!

Baseball awards!

Last night was Noah’s team baseball party to celebrate their season and get their trophies!

photo 2 (3)

His new favorite thing to do is to take a picture with food in his mouth….

We ate at a pizza place so of course, we had to stop and get a happy meal beforehand because “I don’t liiiiike pizza!”

photo 3 (3)

And we had to take a pack of crackers. Little brother enjoyed the entertainment of a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds running around, too. He wanted a bite of pizza so bad!

Noah was so excited to get his trophy and his medal! He slept with them last night and he took them both to school this morning to show his friends.

Love! The pizza place also has a little game room area and Noah asked Brad for some money to play some games. Brad said, “I don’t have any money, I’m broke!” to which Noah replied, “No you’re not Daddy. You’re put together!” Smile

Cason–Five months!

DSC05025

-Still in size 2 Pampers Swaddlers, but they are getting a little snug!

-The last time we were at the doctor (about a week ago) he weighed 16 lbs even.

-Baby loves to EAT. So far we’ve tried rice cereal (not a fan), oatmeal cereal (LURVES), green beans (liked until he tried other foods and now he HATES them….like will spit them out all over you if you try to give them to him!) butternut squash (absolute fav!), peaches (likes okay) and apples (likes okay). My Dad is making most of his baby food!

DSC05028

-He doesn’t really care for the paci anymore. Occasionally he will take it to fall asleep, but more often he doesn’t want it.

-I wish those little teeth would pop on through!! It seems like he’s been teething forever! His hands are constantly in his mouth. Anything he can get his hands on goes straight to his mouth. And oh the DROOL! But still no toofies.

DSC05038

-Right now he is taking 5-7 oz of formula about every 2-4 hours during the day (hubba hubba) and eats oatmeal for breakfast, a jar of something at lunch and a jar of something at supper. He usually will not finish an entire jar of baby food, but he probably will if it’s squash!

-He is early to bed and early to rise, just like his Mommy! He is ready for bed by 6:30pm and wakes around 5:30am. He is sleeping through the niiiiiiiiiight! We’ve had another ear infection and a cold so he’s been waking some with that, but when he’s well, he sleeps!

-BUT he only will stay asleep by himself if it’s dark outside. Where we live, it doesn’t get dark until about 7:30pm. You can try to lay him down all you want, but unless it’s dark, he will wake up. And on the weekends, you can forget about daytime naps unless you hold him. But I’m not complaining because I love taking naps with him! Smile

DSC05042

-He has been rolling from his front to back for a while now, but just yesterday morning when I went to his room to get him, he was on his belly! And he woke up several times last night crying because he rolled over to his belly and couldn’t figure out how to roll back!

-We are in 6 month clothing now and they fit perfectly.

-He has also started reaching for and grabbing toys that we hand him!

853

Likes: His big brother. If Noah even looks at him, he laughs and smiles! Chewing on everything, Mommy signing “The Circle of Life” in my best African voice, splashing water out of the bathtub, watching cartoons with his brother, eating, sleeping, kicking around on the floor, rolling across the floor, Daddy rocking him to sleep

848

Dislikes: changing clothes (particularly pulling something over his head), not being able to hold onto something or making something work the way he wants, being left alone for more than several minutes

794

Cason is growing and changing so fast! Brad and I were just talking the other day about how we can’t even remember what having only one child was like. He completes our family so well!

Noah's preschool choir performance

Last night, Noah got to sing on the big stage at church for the first time! I
was SO EXCITED to see what the kids had been working on and SO EXCITED to watch
Noah! I could tell he was a little bit nervous, but he also loves being on stage
so I knew he would do great! (OMG I tried for a whole day to get this picture to stand upright...I give UP!!)

I tried to video the performance with my phone. It’s not the best quality AND
towards the end, my phone said the memory was full and stopped recording! But
for my memory’s sake, here it is!

Noah plays T-ball!

This spring we decided to let Noah try out baseball to see if he liked it. I would LOVE for him to grow up playing baseball, but more importantly, I want him to be involved in something that he really loves. So we are in the process of figuring out exactly what that something is!

This year, he played for the Braves. His t-ball team had nine other 3-4 year old boys. Noah was very stand-offish at first and didn’t even really want to practice with the other players. He liked hitting the ball and running, but when it wasn’t his turn or he had to stand in the outfield and wait for the ball to come his way, he got bored and wanted to do something else. Luckily, his Daddy helped coach and was always close by to guide him.

How cute are they?!?

As the season progressed, Noah started doing better and better. I think his favorite part about playing is running from base to base!

Here he is about to bat for the very first time!

So sweet! Next year, he will be able to play coach pitch. That makes me nervous! Aaaand I’m so behind in blogging that he had his LAST game last week! Our season was really short, but I’m glad he at least learned the basics of the game and had fun playing!

Next, we are thinking about letting him try karate! I was trying to explain to him what karate is and I said, “Well you do your hands like this and say YA! YA! and hit boards with your hands!” and he said, “Umm, that sounds like it’s gonna hurt…” Ha!
