The look of terror

Last night we took Noah to see Santa Claus! We got to the mall just as Santa was going on break, but we knew he was about to so that was no big deal. We sat in the food court and fed Noah his supper and then walked around and window-shopped to kill time.

After running into several friends, we walked back to check the line for Santa and decided we better sit in line before it got too long. Noah has about as much patience as I do so after about 5 minutes of sitting there, he was ready to GO! We still had about 20 minutes before Santa came back, so we fed him Cheerio’s, watched the train in the middle of the mall, and played as much as we could. But it was still a battle!

Finally, Santa walks back in. I point to him and make a huge deal about him to Noah to pump him up. Noah smiled at Santa! I was so happy that he might actually like him! After the 3-4 families ahead of us had their pictures made, it was finally our turn. We slowly walked up to Santa and I told Noah who he was and that we were going to take his picture with him. I slowly sat him on Santa’s lap. He didn't cry or anything! Yeah!

BUT then he looked up at him, looked back at me, and then….they took the picture….

and the screaming began! Noah screamed so hard he held his breath! I picked him up to try and console him but every time he glanced back and saw that scary guy, he would burst out in tears again! Poor baby!

(Sorry about the SUPER sucky quality! I took a picture of the picture because my scanner is being STUPID!)

In took a good five minutes after we left Santa for Noah to stop crying!

And to top it all off, his hair was acting funny, he had on a soaking wet diaper, his socks were dirty from crawling around at daycare and his size 12 month pants look like they are shorts! Plus the creepy Santa Claus is sticking his tongue out! And did I mention that the ONE picture we bought was $17?!?! That’s so freakin insane! But you HAVE to have a picture with Santa!

So there you go. We traumatized our son on his 10 month birthday! Maybe we’ll do better next year!
