Noah’s one year check up

Taking Noah to the doctor’s office is always an adventure. They put you in a small room and leave you in there for 20-45 minutes to wait for the doctor. Those are not good numbers when a 1 year old is involved.

In the waiting room (before being taken back to the small room), we ate raisins, rearranged the yellow chairs and read books.

Then we were escorted to the small room. Noah weighs 24 lb 13oz (75%), 29 3/4 inches long (75%) and has a head circumference of 19 in (95%). And just in case you didn’t know, 12 month check ups include a toe prick.

Noah was too busy trying to flirt with the nurse and ‘patting her a cake’ to even notice the toe prick! Hallelujah!

After the nurse left us, we had to wait on the doctor. So we played with the super-fun paper.

After he completely ripped the paper to shreds, he decided that it was time for a bottle.

And speaking of the bottle, next weekend they are going bye bye for good! Cold turkey!

After two shots in one leg and one shot in each arm, my little man was completely exhausted.

How pitiful is that?? The good news is that he hasn’t been in a bad mood or acted like he was hurting at all since then! So that’s good.

I’ve also just realized that I didn’t do Noah’s 12 month photo session and update. He is having professional pictures made this weekend so I’ll count that as his 12 month pictures! Here is his update:

  • Wearing 12-18 month clothing
  • Still in size 3 Pampers Cruisers and probably will be in them a while
  • Has 8 teeth, 4 on top and 4 on bottom
  • Can say Mama, Dada, Daddy, Beh (Bella), ba-tull (bottle), bakkull (waffle), bye-bye, no, goo gull (good girl), those are the words he says regularly without prompting, but he can also repeat anything you say
  • Eating table food is still a battle. He will eat chicken nuggets, apples, bananas, strawberries, rice and beans and the usual snacks but that’s pretty much it. He just likes baby food. We keep offering different foods but he refuses them. Any ideas??
  • Still sleeping through the night like a champ. We struggle to keep him awake until 6:30pm and I wake him up at 6:30am. Sometimes he wakes up before then but he just plays in his crib until I come get him. And on the weekends he will usually sleep in until 7:30am.
  • He rarely ever crawls anymore. He is a professional walker now :)
  • He wears size 3 shoes, but we are going this weekend to get him new shoes because the 3’s are getting a little small
  • Still taking two 2 hour naps or one 4 hour nap a day
  • Has major attitude issues lately. He is really testing his boundaries and we have really been trying really hard to enforce those boundaries with him. I have been contemplating not going out to eat for a while with him until we get these issues under control. Thankfully, this too shall pass!
  • LOVES taking a bath even moreso now that he has new bath toys to play with!
  • That kid knows more people than I do. We attend a really big church so it’s almost impossible to know everyone there. Noah and I will be walking down the hall at church and people (that I don’t know) will stop and say, “Hey Noah! How are you?” And he smiles and babbles something back. So cute!

I can’t believe how fast time flies. I love my little boy SO SO SO much!

PS-Triple gold star if you actually read all that! :)

Partial Check! #1 (Part 5 & 6 of 10)

WHEW! Noah’s birthday party was SUCH a success! I’ll post all about that once I get all the pictures together. A few hours after Noah’s party, our revival started at church. We’ve been at church until at least 8:30pm every night since then! So WHEW definitely describes our lives right now. While we have been having a completely AWESOME time at church worshipping with Kari Jobe, Noah has been thrown completely OFF schedule! The first night of the revival we didn’t have childcare because we weren’t going to be there long. Noah decided that instead of worshipping, we should roam the halls of the church.

Looks like fun, right? Anywho, that’s what we’ve been up to lately. Now back to cupcakes…

Partial Check! #1 (Part 4 of 10)

You didn’t think I went and bought Brad a cupcake without getting myself one, did you?

macadamia

White Chocolate Macadamia. Possibly my new favorite. I know I say that every time I try a new one! I think I’ve decided that they are all SO good in their own little way. So really it just depends on your mood.

In other news, Noah’s birthday party is TOMORROW! I dreamed last night that I got to the party location and everything (the tables, chairs, etc.) weren’t set up correctly and then I sent my sister to pick up the balloons and the store couldn’t find my order! Nightmares about my one-year-old’s birthday party? That proves the fact that I am OCD people.

Partial Check! #33 (Part 1 of 33)

Because I’m a super awesome wifey, I surprised Brad with a Peanut Butter Cup cupcake from Gigi’s yesterday!

brad cupcake

Before he devoured it in 2.5 seconds, I said, “Wait wait wait!! This is my something special for you this month. I have to take a picture for the BLOG!” Heeheehee

And just in case you didn’t know, we Alabamians finally got some substantial snow last night!! I’ve never driven in snow until last night and it was just the weirdest thing ever! Because it was night time and it was snowing so hard, the snow looked like little stars and I felt like I was flying through space! It was crazy! It was snowing so hard at one point that I literally couldn’t tell where I was. Kinda scary!

snow2

Our 2 inches (before it became 2 inches)! We are so proud! Noah got to see the snow right before he went to bed last night. I wish we would have had some time for him to play in it.

2-9-11

He loves showing off his teeth!

snow1

He was so worried about Bella going outside this morning. He just stood by the back door staring at her and yelling “BEH! BEH!”

Now I’m ready for the snow to melt and some 70 degree sunny weather!

Happy Birthday Noah!!!

One year ago today, I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of my baby boy. Wondering who he would look like, what he would be like, what I would be like as a mother.

f0184896

Whew. I forgot what me+60 more pounds looked like! I had no idea what the next year would bring or if Brad and I would even be any good as parents. This past year has been full of joy, sleepless nights, bottles, kisses, tears and overwhelming love that I didn’t even know I could possess.

f0488192

I thank God as often as I can that He chose ME to be a mother. And not only a mother, but the mother of the most beautiful, charming, and loving little boy who touches my heart on a daily basis.

1st birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY my sweet angel! I can’t believe how fast the past year has gone by. And while I’ll miss you as a little baby, I’m so excited to watch you grow into toddlerhood and see more and more of your personality shine through! I love you SO SO much!

Partial Check! #1 (Part 3 of 10)

I told you this was coming!

2-3-11

I (being the super sweet wifey that I am) got my husband the upper left, Scarlett’s Red Velvet. I got April the upper right, Caramel Sugar Mama (YUM!) and I got Champagne!

champagne

Sorry for the crappy iPhone picture quality. I really liked the Champagne, but I still think Scarlett’s Red Velvet is my favorite right now.

Yall, I am officially cupcaked out. It could be the (probably) 5 pounds I’ve gained since they opened or the fact that I’ve gotten one just about every other day, but I don’t want to SEE a cupcake, I don’t want to SMELL a cupcake, I don’t even want to TALK about cupcakes! And around here, that’s all anyone wants to talk about with our very first cupcakery in town!

I’ll probably eat those words tomorrow as I’m standing in the 30+ line of people waiting to get another cupcake! Ha! But seriously, this girl is laying OFF the cupcakes for a WHILE!

Partial Check! #1 (Part 2 of 10)

I’m getting pretty good at this! So I said I wasn’t going back to Gigi’s until Thursday when they sale the Champagne cupcake….but April, my sister, MADE me go. I got the Boston Cream…

bostoncream

I liked it a lot! I’m not much of an icing girl so this little cupcake was my cup of tea! April got Scarlett’s Red Velvet. Oh. My. I think that one is my new favorite!

And in other news, today at work we (April-the sister, me and Beverly-not the sister but we still claim her!) received flowers and candy from one of our tenants!

flowersfromtenant

Is that not the sweetest?!? And the card says, “To the best renters in the world!” Yay us!

And in other OTHER news, I taught Noah how to say ‘bottle’ instead of just ‘bah’ last night. Now when he wants a bottle, he says, “Bah-tull” in the cutest southern accent! It’s so cute!!

That was a random post. Ha. Expect another cupcake update on Thursday! After that, I’m STOPPING the cupcakes for a while! Otherwise, I’m going to weigh 300 pounds soon!
