Cason–Nine months!

Soooo Cason turned nine months old on SEPTEMBER 5th and here is it at the end of the month and I’m just now getting around to posting this! FAIL.

photo 3 (3)

-We finally moved up to size 4 Pampers Swaddlers! He is getting so big!

-He can still wear some 9 month clothes but we are transitioning over to 12 month

-At his 9 month check up, he weighed 21 lb 6 oz.

photo 1 (3)

-Little Bit still doesn’t have any teeth.

-He’s started to become a bit pickier with the food he likes. He eats a wide variety of foods but sometimes he will refuse what I give him. And it’s not always the same thing. Some days he will eat carrots and some days he won’t….that kind of thing. But his favorite food right now would probably be The Pioneer Woman’s Bowtie Lasagna. I’m pretty sure he could eat the whole bowl! He also really likes those baby cheese puff looking things, but they are veggie flavored, yogurt, applesauce, rice and beans, baked sweet potato, or basically anything that I’m eating!

photo 2 (3)

-He’s a pro at crawling these days. Now he has learned to pull up on furniture and cruise! And just a few days ago, he stood on his own for a few seconds without holding on to anything!

-Sleep is (dare I say) awesome these days! We give Cason a bottle whenever he acts tired, usually between 6:30-7:30pm. When he is done, he falls asleep and we lay him in his bed. He rolls over and doesn’t make a peep. And will sleep until 5:30am when I wake him to get ready for school. On weekends, he will usually wake up around 5:30am as well, but sometimes will sleep until 6:30am. I think if we got some black-out shades for his windows, he would sleep longer. He’s like a rooster. As soon as he sees a speck of daylight, it’s time to get up!

photo 4.1

-Cason has been a Daddy’s boy his whole life….until this month! He will follow me around in the mornings when I’m trying to get everyone ready for school/work and will pull up on my legs and just smile! Or want me to pick him up. He LOVES when I get on the floor and let him crawl all over me and chew on my shirt! That’s his favorite.

-He will play independently, but most of the time he still likes to know you are in the room with him. If you try to get up and sneak away, he will cry. He LOVES wrestling around with Noah and ANYTHING Noah does gets a big belly laugh.

photo6

-We are working on words right now. He will say da-da (talking to his Daddy, talking to me, or just making the sound) and bye-bye (sometimes). I am trying my BEST to get him to say ma-ma. He will concentrate SO hard on watching my mouth as I say ma-ma-ma-ma and then he will smile SO BIG and say DA-DA! And will be so proud of himself! I love that little stinker!

-Tomorrow, Cason is getting his very first haircut! I’m so excited! If I don’t keep it brushed over, it hangs down in his eyes and he has some curl starting to come in on the side so we need a trim! He is going to look like a big boy after his haircut and that makes me sad, though!

Cason, we love you so much! You are such a happy baby and I am enjoying this stage with you a lot! You are starting to be able to play more with your brother and I just love watching you two together (when he’s not trying to drag you across the room by your leg…). I never could have imagined having two boys, but now I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Cason-Eight months!

DSC05132

This month was BY FAR the hardest to take pictures! That boy does.not.sit.still. Like at all. Ever. He has changed so much in the past month!

-Rocking size 3 Pampers Swaddlers

-Wears mostly 9 month clothing

-I’m excited to find out how much he weighs at his doctor’s appointment next month! My boy loves to eat!

DSC05135

PS-there is a weird spot on my camera lens in case you are wondering Smile

-He has decided that he doesn’t really want baby food anymore. Please pass the real stuff. The only problem with that is little bro has ZERO teeth! Ha! His favorite right now is a freshly baked sweet potato. He also enjoys rice and beans from the mexican restaurant, or pretty much whatever Mommy is eating. He is still eating a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and a few 5-7 ounce bottles throughout the day.

DSC05138

-Have you noticed his new trick? That little tongue is out about 75% of his awake time. Not only has he mastered sitting up, but this month he also has mastered getting into a seated position from lying down AND CRAWLING! It took him about 2-3 days to figure out the whole crawling thing, but once he got it, he was ON THE MOVE!

-Sleep is going ok. Lately, he’s been getting up once a night for a bottle. By the grace of God, my husband always takes the night shift so I can sleep. God bless that man. Cason has also been napping for longer stretches. This past weekend he took 3 hour afternoon naps and it took us a sweet forever to get him to bed both nights, so we are working on that!

-C is a TOTAL Daddy’s boy. 100%. Probably because of their nightly rendezvous. At least I’m Noah’s favorite!

DSC05139

-It takes every bit of strength and patience I have to dress that boy in the mornings. I’m talking about laying him on the floor, holding him down with my legs and trying to pull a onesie over his head as fast as humanly possible. He will.not.be.still. Flip this way, then the other way, kick kick kick his legs, turn this way, roll over, flail his chunky arms, kick me in the leg, crawl away. It’s exhausting. And I usually end up sweating.

DSC05152

-We moved him up to a big boy convertible carseat. He was just too heavy to lug around in his pumpkin seat and since Brad drops them off at school and I pick them up, we had to carry it in and out of school every day. We already had two convertible carseats that Noah used, so C got promoted!

-Ok this is gross but I want documentation for when I’m old and want to reminisce. Cason has more earwax than anybody I’ve ever met. Not that I go around checking people’s earwax. After every bath, I q-tip the outside of his ear and yall would not believe.

DSC05154

-C LOVES Noah so much! He follows him around and just laughs at every thing Noah does.

-He is still saying da-da and that’s it. I’m working on him though!

We love you sweet baby C!

Noah’s first stitches

Last Tuesday, I got a call from Noah’s preschool that he was playing under a table and it somehow collapsed on him…and that it was bad. I rushed to school to find this….

noah stiches 1

He was surprisingly not screaming his head off, as I would have been if it happened to me! He didn’t even act like it was hurting at all unless you touched around it. His pediatrician’s office was closed for lunch so we headed to the local MedCenter. Thankfully my friend works there and was able to give him the stitches.

EIGHT OF THEM!

noah stitches 2

Getting the numbing shots was AWFUL. Imagine Noah screaming, crying, while three of us hold him down and him saying “Mommy I just want you to hold me!!!” Rip my heart out. :(

The stitches had to stay in for five days and we got them out yesterday! Once he got the stitches in, he did great with it. He never complained about it hurting at all! I am so proud of him for being so brave!

And today he started pre-k!

first day of pre-k

You can see his scabs on his head. I’ve been rubbing Mederma on it like crazy!

Cason started his new class today, too!

first day of school

They love each other so much and I LOVE THEM!

Cason-Seven months!

DSC05108

My little chunky monkey is growing up so fast!

-Still rocking size 3 Pampers Swaddlers

-Wearing 6-9 month clothes and some 9 month outfits

-I have no idea how much he weighs right now. A lot! Smile

-He still lurves to eat. He’s drinking 6-7 oz bottles every three hours or so, oatmeal for breakfast, two jars of baby food for lunch and two for dinner. We are dabbling a little with table foods. He would much rather eat real food as opposed to baby food. He’s munched on apple slices, a baked sweet potato, mashed potatoes, or pretty much anything that we are eating. He really likes so many foods!

DSC05112

-He is officially sitting up by himself now! He took a nosedive at school yesterday and got a bloody nose, but other than that we haven’t had any injuries.

-Still NO teeth! I think Noah had 4 by now!

-Sleep is getting better. Lately, he’s been sleeping through the night. But sometimes he likes a bottle around 2am. He’s not much of a napper. At school, he will take 2 or 3 little cat naps (like 15-30 minutes). If he’s home and we hold him, he will nap for an hour or two though.

-He’s starting to figure out crawling! He will get up on his knees and rock and he can maneuver himself to where he wants to go.

 DSC05114

-My boy hates changing clothes. He particularly doesn’t like you holding onto his arms while you try to get them through the armholes. HATES IT. And now that he’s a professional roller, his new favorite trick is flopping about like a fish on the changing table while I’m trying to dress him or change his diaper.

-He went to the beach for the second time this month and he loved it. He did NOT love the ocean though. Every time we dipped his toes in it, he would burst into tears!

DSC05116

-Another new trick of his is to stick his tongue out. All. the. time.

-He said his first word this month! Any guesses?? Da-da. Seriously. And he says it alllll day err day. I might as well go ahead and admit that he is a TOTAL Daddy’s boy. 100%

DSC05122

-Please excuse my naked child. And I see all the bruises and I promise we don’t beat him. Smile

-These two boys love each other so much. SO SO SO much. Now that Cason is getting bigger, they can actually play together. They have my heart!

I guess it’s time to start planning a first birthday party!!!

Cason-Six months!

I am five days late posting this…we could never remember to take C’s picture!

DSC05073

-We just graduated to size 3 Pampers Swaddlers. We would have moved up sooner, but I was determined to use up all of our size 2’s!

-At his 6 month check up, he weighed 18 lb 1 oz.

-Obviously the little chunky monkey loves to eat! My Dad makes the majority of his baby food. So far he’s had green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, broccoli, squash, garden vegetables, chicken, carrots, prunes, apples, peaches, pears, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and I think that’s it. He is NOT A FAN of fruits at all. Anytime I try to give him any fruit he gags and acts like it’s so sour. So most of the time, I try to put a little bit of fruit and a little bit of veggie on the same spoonful. His favorite right now is probably the squash/broccoli/chicken combo my Dad makes. He’s a veggie boy!

DSC05077

-Still no teeth. I can’t believe he doesn’t have any yet with as much as he’s been teething for what seems like months. He loves biting on a paci or his bib and we have to put Orajel on his gums a lot because he’s in pain.

-He loves baby food, but sometimes all he wants is a bottle. Right now, he’s drinking about 6-7oz about every 3 hours. He eats oatmeal for breakfast, a jar of food at lunch and two jars at dinner.

DSC05080

-Sleep is going okay. He slept through the night a few nights in a row last month and then started waking up once or twice a night after that. Thankfully, my sweet husband is a rockstar and gets up with him most of the time. After his 6 month check up, the doctor said he is more than capable of going all night without a bottle. So last night we decided to start sleep training. He is really easy to get to sleep right now. He has a bottle around 7-7:30pm and falls asleep as soon as he’s done and then we just lay him down. Well last night he woke up around 2am and we let him cry for 5 minutes, then went to check on him (patting his back and talking to him, but not picking him up). Wait 5 minutes, repeat, wait 5 minutes, repeat. This went on for about 30 minutes and he finally fell back asleep and slept until it was time to get up for the day.

DSC05084

-He rolls like a champ now and it starting to sit up! He can sit up by himself for a few seconds and he LOVES it!

-He is wearing 6-9 month clothes right now. Most of his 6 month outfits are realllly snug.

-He has really started to enjoy watching cartoons with Noah. His favorite show by FAR is Jungle Junction. If he’s pitching a fit, we just turn it on and he immediately gets quiet! It’s saved our sanity a few times already!

DSC05090

-We’ve started letting him sit in the big stroller to go on walks around the neighborhood and he really enjoys that. He’s also starting to really like his jumper.

-It’s not going to be long until he figures out how to crawl! He can get to whatever he wants by rolling and scooting right now.

-He still hates to change clothes!

DSC05093

-This month we completely stopped the probiotics and gripe water. He hasn’t skipped a beat and my wallet is grateful.

I cannot believe he is already 6 months old. I want time to slow down, but I’m also excited each time he reaches another milestone. We just love him so much!!

Cason’s 6 month check up

Little Bit got a clean bill of health at the doctor today AND three shots! He tried to show out and insisted on trying to sit up for the doctor.

photo 1 (3)

He weighs 18 pounds and 1 ounce which is in the 60th percentile.

photo 2 (3)

And he is 26 1/2 inches long, the 50th percentile.

photo 3 (3)

Now onto table foods! Yippee!

Beachin’ It

One of the perks of getting married on Memorial Day weekend is that your anniversary always falls on a three-day weekend! We always try to go out of town for our anniversary and this year we went to Gulf Shores, kids in tow!

This picture has nothing to do with the beach, I just wanted to share the cuteness!

photo 1

Ok, so the trip started out fabulously. We left right after lunch so the kids would have full bellies and go to sleep!

photo 2

photo 3

This worked for about two hours. After that, Cason decided that he was done riding in his carseat. Fun times! What’s even MORE fun than being stuck in the car with a crying baby is going through Mobile, AL at rush hour when one of the main roads is closed because of an accident and the ENTIRE population of Mobile is being re-routed to the bridge we are trying to cross. It took us at least 45 minutes to go over a bridge that normally would take about 2 minutes.

After we escaped all that traffic, we stopped at a Chick-fil-A for supper. It wasn’t that hot out so we left Bella in the car with the windows rolled down. STUPID STUPID STUPID IDEA. When we got back out to the car, she was basically about to have a heat stroke. We gave her tons of water and let the air conditioning blow on her for a long time. It was the scariest thing ever. And we feel like absolute dirt. Horrible dog parents. The worst. So needless to say, she was treated like royalty for the rest of the weekend and got herself a chicken nugget happy meal as our apology. And don’t worry, she’s all better now! And we learned a huge lesson!

So after we got everybody back in the car and settled and turned out of the CFA parking lot, Brad says “I think Cason pooped.” Seriously. Did I mention that Brad is sitting in the back seat in between the two carseats? So I pulled over, got Cason out and sat him in Brad’s lap (because Bella was sitting in the passenger seat…royalty, remember?). Cason has been eating a lot of broccoli lately so his poop has been smelling a special kind of funky. I pulled his diaper off and my husband proceeds to dry heave. I looked at him and said “I WILL DIVORCE YOU IF YOU PUKE RIGHT NOW!” Thankfully, he didn’t. Smile

Finally, SEVEN HOURS later we made it to the beach house!

The next day Cason woke up at his normal time, 5:30am, so we all got up, had breakfast and headed to the beach!

photo 4

I mean, come on. Look at those chunky arms.

As we were getting out of the car at the beach, a truck pulled up and someone yelled HEY! I turned around to see our friend that lives in Mobile and the man we named Cason after. This was the first time they met! Little Cason had his serious face on.

photo 5

Cason was happy to sit in his Boppy chair in the sand and watch Noah play in the water.

beach1

beach2

This year is the first time Noah has really REALLY enjoyed being at the actual beach. He would have stayed there and played all day long. Splashing in the water, building sand castles, catching fish, he loved it all!

Cason didn’t really care about any of it.

beach3

beach4

He was living the good life on the beach, asleep and with a fan blowing cold air on him.

beach5

We couldn’t stay out on the beach more than a few hours before little C was over it. So we went back to the beach house, took naps, then went to Adventure Island to ride go-carts. Noah loves riding those things. You have to stand really far away to watch them, so I don’t have a picture.

The next day was more of the same! Beach, naps but this time The Track!

beach8

He is soaking wet in that picture because he and his Daddy rode the bumper boats!

While the big boys rode rides, Cason and I cheered from the sidelines. AND he rode in the big stroller for the first time!

beach7

We also stuffed our faces full of seafood (and cheesecake) all weekend and Noah actually ate popcorn shrimp! We were so proud of him for trying something new!

beach6

It only took us 5 hours to get home. Smile And we are all exhausted. But it was a super fun trip with our little family and we made some of the best memories together!
