Well, it may be a problem. It seems like a problem anyway.
Tuesday night, I slept horribly. A prank caller called my cell phone around 1:30am and after that, I couldn't go back to sleep until like 4:00am. So all day Wednesday I was like a zombie at work. Last night, I went to bed at 7:30pm and slept until 6:00am this morning (well besides waking up FIVE times to pee!). So I felt pretty rested this morning. While I was getting ready this morning, I started feeling a little dizzy. I sat down for a minute and didn't really think anything about it because that happens sometimes when I get ready because I'm standing up for so long, getting hot by blowing drying my hair, etc. And besides, after I took a break I felt fine.
Then I got to work. I was working on clearing some end-of-the-year filing and started to feel a little dizzy again. I just assumed it was because I was standing up and moving a lot. So I sat down at my desk. Then, I started to get really hot. HOT. I asked the girls in the office if they were hot and they said NO! So I went outside (where it's like 40-something degrees) and walked around a bit. I came in and was still feeling like I was about to suffocate. Then, April (my sista!) suggested that I check my blood pressure. (My Mom is a nurse and is also obsessed with my blood pressure so she gave me a digital blood pressure monitor to check my blood pressure throughout the day.) So I checked it and it was 164/78! NOT GOOD! For those that don't know...normal BP is 120/80! And my normal BP is a little below 120/80! So I started to FREAK!
I sat down and waited five minutes and checked it again. That time it was 141/88. A little better. So I figured I just needed to sit down and chill out a bit. Five minutes later....152/93! THEN I called my doctor. Over the next hour, I continued to check my BP and it got a little worse (169/88) but then slowly started to go back down, eventually getting to 128/87. When my doctor's office finally called me back and I explained that my BP was really high, but now it was normal, she said to just wait until my appointment this afternoon to come in.
Once my BP got back to normal, I felt fine. April and I went to grab something to eat and to look for an outfit for Noah. Then when we got back to the office, I started feeling funny again. Hot flashes, sweaty palms, just funny. So I checked my BP and it was high again! 154/92! So I told myself that I was just going to sit at my desk and not do anything for a while. I've been sitting here for about an hour...just checked my BP and it's 138/84. I looked it up on the internet and supposedly, it isn't considered high until the numbers are more than 140/90. So I don't know.
And let me just state-for the record-that TODAY, January 28th, is the day I originally guessed that Noah would arrive! Wouldn't that be weird if he really did come today? I'm really anxious to get to the doctor's office and talk to him about all of this. I know he would probably induce me or schedule a c-section if my BP continued to stay elevated, but with it fluctuating so much I'm not sure what he will want to do, if anything.
So just keep your fingers crossed for me please! My appointment is at 3:30pm. Hopefully we won't have an experience in the waiting room like last week!

Hi Allison, I have been following your blog for a few weeks now. I just had our little boy, Jackson on January 7th. I had perfect blood pressure throughout my pregnancy and then when I hit 8 months, everything went out the window! I made 4 separate trips to L&D because of high BP and had to come in to my Dr's office numerous times to be monitored for hours. They finally diagnosed me with PIH (Pregnancy induced Hypertension.) I was eventually induced but it was two days after my due date, luckily. Keep a check on your BP, but the real concern is if your doctor finds protein in your urine, which I'm sure you already know is a sign of Preeclampsia. Just wanted to share my experience with BP issues. Good luck, hope everything works out for you and Noah :)
I had a similar experience at the end of one of my pregnancies. I had never had a hot flash before so I didn't know what it was. Hot flashes are caused by the fluctuations in hormones and I think the BP is just a part of the hotflashes. But it does seem to indicate that your body is getting ready to do something new!! Good luck!
