The Beach!!

We took Noah on his very first vacation this past Memorial Day weekend to Gulf Shores! We had so much fun! Unfortunately for everyone (including our two good friends that joined us for the trip, Brian and Jenn) Noah’s teething kicked into high gear. We have been giving him Baby Orajel, teething tablets and even Infant Tylenol (off brand of course). He is so irritable and screechy…poor baby!

Ok-picture time! Gulf Shores is about a five hour drive from where we live. We listened to Noah cry for about an hour then decided to pull over and play for a while instead. Luckily after we played, he fell asleep and slept most of the way there.

Friday night, we introduced Noah to LuLu’s! He loved it!

He didn’t last very long there!

One morning we woke up, brushed Noah’s hair and it actually laid down! All by itself! But it only lasted for a morning!

Noah also tried reallllllllly hard to roll over. He made some progress but never rolled over all the way.

And geocaching!

Brad, Noah and I went searching for a particular cache Saturday afternoon. The cache was located in a park, close to a bench that was surrounded by landscape rocks. As I was searching, I saw a bird by the bench that was about 5 feet away from me-pretty close for a bird. It was squawking like crazy and puffing itself up. As I walked closer to the bird to figure out why it was so mad, it didn’t move. It just kept squawking louder and puffing bigger. I circled it, jumped at it, said BOO!!!!, but it would.not.move!! I got about a foot from it before Brad told me to leave it alone. And then I figured out what it was doing.

Look closely and you will see four eggs under the bird. It was a Momma bird protecting her babies! Then I felt like CRAP for scaring her. She is a brave little bird and stood her ground. I told Brad that I wanted to come back in a few weeks to see the babies!

Anywho, tomorrow is Brad and I’s two year anniversary! We are celebrating by going to eat at my all-time FAVORITE restaurant…The Bright Star!! Mmmmmmm….. And as an extra-special anniversary present, Brad’s mom is keeping Noah ALL NIGHT LONG!! I’m having mixed emotions. We will see if I can make it all night!

Rain, rain go away

It has been raining cats and dogs here since yesterday! As I was driving home from work yesterday, the street was practically flooded!

This morning around 6am, I got a call from our answering service at work. Apparently a tree had fallen on one of our rental houses.

No fun! Luckily no one was home.

I saw the outside and my maintenance man walked up and said, “And this isn’t even the bad spot. Look inside!”

Well I did and he was right. The insulation and ceiling had completely caved in and I could see the sky from INside the bedroom!

photo 3 (2)

That’s the inside. It isn’t that great of a picture…the power lines got wrapped up in the tree that fell so there was no power. But the white glows at the top of the picture are the sunlight coming through the roof!

That’s not going to be a fun job to clean up.

We just got back from my nephew’s Kindergarten graduation and it’s STILL raining. I took tons of pictures so look for that post coming soon!

Your weekly update!

My step-dad finally gave me some pictures from Noah’s baby dedication so here are a few more for your viewing pleasure:

In other news…

I have completely fallen off the diet train. I lost 27 pounds, then gained three back, then lost two, then gained one, etc. As of this morning, I am still four pounds heavier than I was pre-pregnancy. I want to lost those plus 12 more and that’s never going to happen with me slacking all the time. So the diet is back ON (except for on my anniversary when Brad is taking me to my FAVORITE restaurant EVER and next weekend when we and some friends go to the beach! I have been craving some good seafood….IF we can even get any seafood…stupid oil spill…)

Anyway, for some reason Noah has been waking up twice a night for the past couple of weeks. 12am and 4am without fail. We’ve tried keeping him up later and later (even until 10:30pm), we’ve tried giving him more to eat before bed, nothing works. Any ideas? I’m hoping that once we start solids in a few weeks (if the pediatrician gives us the go ahead) that will help tie him over through the night.

Mother’s Day

Last year on Mother’s Day I remember wondering if I would be pregnant by Mother’s Day 2010. Who would have known that I wouldn’t be pregnant...but have a beautiful 3 month old baby instead!! I thoroughly enjoyed my first Mother’s Day with Noah.

scan0001

Not only was it Mother’s Day, and not only did Noah turn three months old that day, but Noah was also dedicated at church!

scan0003

We are the second to last family on the right. There were so many other babies being dedicated as well that poor Brad had to stand behind me and we didn’t really get a good picture of us on stage.

scan0005

But it was still a special moment for us. And in case you are wondering, yes my arms were killing me by the time we finished!

scan0002

Noah was worn out from the festivities! And my first Mother’s Day present was a new flowerbed! Brad completely redid it…front and back!

Yesterday, we had Noah’s 3 month pictures taken. I wish I would have had some newborn pictures taken of him, but I just felt so overwhelmed with everything at the time. I’ll be sure to post some of his latest pictures though next week!

Happy weekend!
